The Children’s Prayer Nests

The Prayer Nests are made up of children who, following the example of the three Little Shepherds of Fatima, gather together to pray the Rosary and, where possible, to adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

Why the word “nest”?
What is a nest? It is the place where baby birds are fed and protected by their parents until they grow wings and are able to fly and care for themselves.
The image of the nest introduces us to the delicate and precious reality of children, whom parents and educators must help to “grow and become strong in spirit” (Luke 1:80), so that they may fly freely in the skies of God.

At the same time, the “nest” becomes a fountain from which flows the children’s “almighty” prayer—a prayer that pleads for mercy for sinners and for the coming of the Kingdom of Love, which we ask for each day in the Our Father.

How is a Prayer Nest formed?

Exactly like the birds do: they build the nest by laying down one straw at a time—even starting over again if the wind or storm destroys it.

The first straw, then, is the patient and constant willingness of the person who takes the initiative. The second is to motivate the little ones by helping them understand how important their prayer is—since at Fatima, Saint Michael the Archangel and the Virgin Mary came to ask children to pray.

Other “straws” are the determination and firmness of parents and teachers, combined with the living example they provide during these moments of prayer.

The White Army makes its more than fifty years of experience available to families, parishes, schools, and to all who feel in their hearts the desire to help children pray for the salvation of the world.

Anyone can start a Prayer Nest, but it requires patience and perseverance. The result also depends on the conviction, and above all the Love and Faith, of the one who takes the first step.

Gaby Ramirez, a radiant grandmother from Monterrey, Mexico, despite her physical limitations, organized Prayer Nests in 30 parishes in her city.

Let us remember: every work of God comes at a price. Caring for the spiritual growth of children is among the most precious of all works—so it is not surprising if we must overcome a few obstacles.

Prayer Nests can be formed in many places and in many ways. The most natural and suitable places are the family, the church, and the school.
Even when children gather in places where the Blessed Sacrament is not present, Jesus is still among them:
“Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them” (Matthew 18:20).

Whoever feels the urgency of this call in their heart, let them take action and form Prayer Nests anywhere and everywhere:

  • in children’s hospital wards

  • in front of Marian shrines and statues

  • on sports fields

  • wherever the angels may inspire

ATTENTION! A special invitation goes to those with access to private radio or TV stations:
Why not create a weekly program featuring a Prayer Nest?
